One Plus has launched the OnePlus TV U1S in India. The TV is available in three screen sizes – 50-inch, 55-inch and 65-inch. Unlike its predecessor, the U1S does not support Dolby Vision, but it supports HDR 10+. It also comes with a slightly redesigned remote control.
OnePlus TV U1S features and specifications
The OnePlus TV U1S shares the same features and specifications across the three models with the only difference being the speaker setup. All three screen sizes sport 30W of sound output. The 65-inch variant has four drivers while the others have two drivers. Coming to the panel, the TV is 4K with support for HDR 10, HDR 10+ but does not support Dolby Vision. OnePlus has also partnered with Dyna Audio to master the speakers on the TV so it will be interesting to see how they sound.
Like we’ve seen on the Mi QLED TV 75 (review) and the Realme TV (review), the OnePlus U1S also comes with hands-free support. So, you can control the TV using your voice without resorting to the remote control.
The OnePlus U1S runs on Android TV 10 but does not bring the new Google TV UI. In addition to the traditional Android TV UI, the OnePlus U1S also brings OxygenPlay and OnePlus Connect 2.0. Running on Android TV you get access to the Google Play Store along with access to popular streaming services. You also get access to Chromecast and OnePlus has also implemented Miracast support in the TV. A unique feature of the TV is multicast – where 2 users can cast content from their smartphone to the TV. It will be interesting to see how this is implemented especially if two people are playing a multiplayer game on the TV.
OnePlus is also updating the features the OnePlus Connect app brought with the OnePlus TV. With the OnePlus connect app, users could use their smartphone as a trackpad, switch apps, control the volume and more. Now users will be able to set a timer for the TV to go off and remotely put the TV in kids’ mode. The app now lets you transfer files smaller than 200MB to the TV. You can also control the TV using your Alexa enabled speaker.
An interesting addition is the ability to control the TV using the OnePlus Watch (review). Users can use the watch as a trackpad to navigate the TV, smart volume controls, and more. Once the watch detects a user has gone to sleep, it will automatically switch off the TV. Users can also seamlessly pair the OnePlus buds to the TV for a personalized listening experience without having to go through the hassles of pairing a headset via the Bluetooth settings. Needless to say, OnePlus wants to pack this TV with as many features as possible.
For connectivity, the TV has 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports. The TV also supports eARC to connect a home theatre or soundbar to the TV.
OnePlus TV Camera
The much-rumoured OnePlus TV camera has also made its debut. The device comes with a sliding cover to cover the lens when not in use. The camera has a 1080p resolution. It has a plug and play setup and comes with noise-reducing dual mics.
